If you are a Filipino nurse who was educated and trained outside, and planning to practice nursing in the United States, you may need to undergo a process called Registered Nurse (RN) License Verification or Validation of Licensure (VOL) with the State Board of Nursing.

The PRC License Verification for RN is just one of the many requirements that you need to submit along with your other nursing credentials.

In this article, we are here to guide you with verifying one's Philippine Registered Nurse (RN) License. We will also show you how to do it yourself through the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC)'s online verification platform. You may even do it even if you are currently outside the Philipines.

Before we dig into the process, there are few basic keys that one must know regarding (RN) license verification.

So, why is PRC License Verification (RN) required by the Board of Nursing?

Verification of licenses, particularly nursing licenses, is required for a number of reasons. The Board of Nursing, for one, assess a person's education and license to determine whether they meet the minimal requirements of the State's Registered Nurse program.

Additionally, the licensing verification procedure ensures that only the most qualified professionals are permitted to treat patients as nurses.

So, checking one's professional license is therefore crucial for protecting public safety.

Where to verify PRC License (RN)?

One must verify RN license before the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), an agency that overseas and regulates the practice of professionals (except lawyers), who make up the majority of the highly skilled workforce in the Philippines.

Now, let us look at the process.

The steps for conducting PRC License Verification (RN) online are listed below.

Step #1. Go to www.prc.gov.ph, which is the Professional Regulation Commission's (PRC) official website.

A nursing license or the license of any other registered professionals may be verified or confirmed online through the PRC website.

Step #2. Look for the "Verification of License" or "Verification of Rating" section.

This section may be available in a different place on the PRC website, but it is typically listed under "Other eServices."

Below is a snippet of the PRC's official website for reference.

The website will then redirect to the Licensure Examination and Registration Information System (LERIS) page after the "Verification of License" or "Verification of Rating" option is chosen.

Step #3. On the LERIS page, you can scan the PRC RN License, enter the license number, or just the name of the nursing professional to check whether the license is valid.

Step #4. You must give essential information, depending on how you want the RN license to be confirmed.

Simply follow the directions and provide the relevant data in the fields, which include your name, birthdate, PRC license number, and other pertinent information.

In order to prevent mistakes or errors, make sure to submit accurate information.

Step #5. After filling out the necessary fields, click "Verify" to send the request for a nursing license verification.

Step #6. After that, simply wait for the verification results, which are immediately provided.

You should see a "Verification Details" dialog box with the name of the licensee holder, and with a note "Verified PRC Professional."

Take note that the "Verification of License" or "Verification of Rating" services only confirms one's professional licensing records in the PRC database entries.

If you wish to secure a StateBoard Verification and submit it to the State Board of Nursing, check the article below:

In addition to the (RN) license verification service, the PRC's official website also provides a "Verification of Rating" section where you can verify your score or rating on the nursing licensing examination. Simply complete the necessary fields and follow the given instructions.

Confirming ones' Philippines PRC (RN) license is as simple as that. Just follow the procedures given above.

Hi,thanks for this info. I just want to ask if this are also the steps if the Registration is expired. Mine has been expired for years because not practicing in the Philippines.

Hi Divina,

For PRC Philippine Identification Card (PIC) or PRC License ID that has already been expired, the process is different. You will need to apply for a renewal of your PRC License ID and submit the required documents for renewal. If you are residing abroad, you may be able to have your expired PRC License ID renewed by authorizing someone on your behalf to transact with the PRC by providing either an authorization letter to another PRC licensee holder or Special Power of Attorney (SPA) which needs to be apostille, to a non-PRC licensee holder, in order to facilitate the renewal of your expired PRC License ID.

how can i request my license ID?

Hi Meshyr,
To request for a PRC License ID, the process would depend on whether you are (1) initially registering with the PRC after having passed your PRC exam, (2) have lost your PRC License ID with validity period of more than a year, or (3) renewing your expired PRC License ID.

For expired PRC License ID, you may be able to renew it by authorizing someone on your behalf to transact with the PRC by providing either an authorization letter to another PRC licensee holder or Special Power of Attorney (SPA) which needs to be apostille, to a non-PRC licensee holder, in order to facilitate the renewal of your expired PRC License ID, especially if you are already residing outside the Philippines.
